experience to our veterans that have served our country.
The Horses, Hearts and Heroes program began in the
summer of 2010 as BEAMING’s first lesson offering for
disabled military veterans. Riders, as well as
side-walkers and horse handlers are veterans. It is
one-of-a-kind in the region.
Therapeutic riding lessons are conducted by a PATH
certified instructor. Objectives of the program include
improving self-esteem, coping with civilian life and
stressors, and improving physical, social, and behavioral skills through therapeutic horseback riding. Riders may have diagnoses including but not limited to amputations, burns, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, other traumatic injuries, stroke, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress.
This program includes increased ability to cope with civilian life and day to day stressors. It also promotes camaraderie with other veterans.
Changing lives one ride at a time.
