HORSE CARE AND LESSON PREP
Prepare our horses for lessons by grooming and saddling them.
SIDE WALKER
This person works with students and horses during lessons. The side walker helps the student maintain balance and control by walking beside the rider. The side walker helps to interpret the directions given by the riding instructor. They assist with mounting and dismounting the horses. Training is provided.
HORSE CARE HANDLER
This person works with students and horses in lessons. The horse handler has developed an adequate degree of horse experience to be responsible for the horse’s behavior while a student rides. Sometimes the horse handler leads the horse and at other times, remains within reach of a mounted student. This person also helps with grooming, tacking, mounting and dismounting, depending on the level of certification. There are 5 different levels of horse handling. Training is provided and testing is required for certification at each level
SUPPORT
Interested in helping students in the classroom? Help them learn about horses and participate in horse-related educational activities. BEAMING also hosts events year round. Each event, including our annual fundraiser, “Night at the Races”, offers many volunteer opportunities. From soliciting raffle tickets and networking, to marketing and public relations, there is something for you! Additionally, BEAMING could always use maintenance and site work assistance (ex. painting, minor repairs, lawn and garden care, etc.)

All volunteers must be at least 13 years old. Experience is not necessary. All training is provided.
